PETERSON HAS THE HIGHEST CPAC "LIFETIME RATING" OF ANY NEW JERSEY POLITICIAN.
TRENTON, NJ – The American Conservative Union foundation's Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) has recognized Assemblyman Erik Peterson for his outstanding conservative voting record. The recognition took place during CPAC's annual conference in Florida on February 26, 2022.
The Foundation, a nonprofit established in 1964, has been grading elected officials’ voting records since 1971. Peterson consistently ranks among the most conservative legislators in New Jersey, with a lifetime score of 95%, the highest of any state lawmaker.
“I believe in conservative values, which bring liberty and prosperity to everyone, liberal or conservative,” Peterson (R-Hunterdon) said. “I can’t stress enough the honor it is to be recognized by CPAC, whose members truly are among the best and the brightest, the most influential conservatives on the planet. Thank you.”
The Foundation ranks Peterson strongest on Second Amendment, election integrity, healthcare, taxes, and poverty issues. According to its conservative metrics, Peterson has no weak issues.
Peterson shared a recorded message to accept his award, as he could not attend in person this year. "I believe that our shared conservative values bring about liberty and prosperity," said Peterson in his message, "I want to be a conservative voice down in Washington, D.C.. I want to protect freedom. I want to fight for our freedom."
The ceremony was held February 26 in Orlando, Florida.
“I sleep comfortably at night, knowing I vote on my sincerely-held values, not polling trends that shift with political winds,” Peterson added. “We need more men and women of integrity in state legislatures and the halls of Congress, who cherish our Constitution and believe the best government is self-government first. They will do what is right, no matter the cost.”
